Jake Sargent, senior director, is the leader of APCO’s U.S. crisis management and litigation communication practice and is based in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Sargent has high-level communication experience in state and federal government and has advised companies on issues critical to the success of their businesses and integral to their reputations. Mr. Sargent’s recent work involving investigations and litigation has included advising a major pharmaceutical company on a multi-billion dollar settlement with the U.S. government; directing strategy and communication for multiple product liability mass torts for Fortune 100 companies; and acting as spokesperson for the trustee liquidating Lehman Brothers Inc.
Mr. Sargent specializes in a stakeholder-driven communications approach that considers the expectations and potential reactions of an organization’s key audiences. This approach drives actionable and realistic communications strategies that are consistent with legal aims and also reflect an organization’s broader operational and reputational goals.
In the public sector, Mr. Sargent served as the deputy communication director for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Rules. He was also a speechwriter for California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and a special assistant for communication for the state of California’s Business, Transportation and Housing Agency.
Mr. Sargent graduated from Cornell University with a degree in government.
