Eliot Hoff, senior director, is a founder of APCO’s New York office and leads APCO’s crisis communication practice in North America. Mr. Hoff manages crisis communication for one of the world’s largest food and consumer products companies and has expertise in product recalls, manufacturing and marketing issues, and other areas critical to the reputation of any business. Mr. Hoff also has vast experience in the transportation and financial services industries, where he regularly consults on crisis and issues management. Mr. Hoff currently serves as spokesperson for New Yorkers for Beverage Choices, the coalition opposed to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s ban on large-size sugary drinks. He has appeared on CNN, NPR, Fox News, NY1 and most local New York broadcast news programs. He is regularly quoted in the nation’s top print publications, including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.
 
Prior to joining APCO, Mr. Hoff was a vice president in Ruder Finn’s corporate reputation practice, where he worked with a diverse array of clients on global issues and crisis programs. In addition, he managed the communication surrounding numerous high-profile lawsuits, specifically in the areas of employment, intellectual property and media law. Before Ruder Finn, Mr. Hoff was director of Connors Communications, a boutique technology public relations agency, where he helped to expand the agency’s offerings to include litigation communication, corporate reputation, financial communication and crisis. At Connors, he launched several companies in the telecommunications sector, including Vonage and Schema Ltd. Mr. Hoff came to Connors from Hill and Knowlton, where he was part of the litigation group of the corporate practice.

Mr. Hoff, an attorney, began his career as associate director at the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), where he implemented and expanded media relations and grassroots community outreach program in the New York region and served as spokesperson in the national and local media.   

Mr. Hoff holds a law degree from the George Washington University National Law Center and a Bachelor of Arts from Binghamton University.
